Thank You Ma’am has captivated members of the syndicate who hold stakes in the thoroughbred at a charming country pub near his stables in Kingston Lisle, close to Wantage. Known for his friendly demeanor, Leroy, as he’s affectionately called in the yard, has become the center of attention.
Leroy recently greeted fans outside The Blowing Stone Inn, enhancing his growing local fame. Clive Huggins, a worker at the Kingston Lisle Park Estate, enjoys seeing the horses from the nearby stable: “It’s great seeing the horses come past the pub. Owning a share in one would have seemed laughable to me—but now Leroy visits the pub to meet his fans monthly. I’d bet he’s a Guinness fan!”
Adding to the excitement, young Harry, the son of syndicate owner Rupert Adams, had written to the Queen to wish her well after an illness. This gesture was just before Leroy’s significant victory following several second-place finishes.
The Posh Pundit racing club syndicate, which owns Leroy, supports Brain Tumour Research by donating 50% of the share purchase price in the race-winning horse. This Saturday, Leroy will compete at Ascot racecourse, encouraged by trainer Georgie Nicholls and jockey Olive Nicholls, a mother and daughter duo, along with over 50 syndicate members.
Rupert Adams shared his motivation with Brain Tumour Research, saying, “Awareness of cancer’s dangers is widespread, but brain cancer often seems overlooked. After hearing Tony Livesey on 5 Live Drive, I was moved to act. I’m passionate about racing, and combining this love with making a difference is fulfilling.”
Those interested in supporting the cause can purchase a year-long share in Leroy, named in tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, for £80 through the racing club’s website. For those wishing to explore local businesses or events, check out our directory or submit a listing through our application page.
