Vale Academy Trust Celebrates Student Achievements with Olympics and Character Awards ahead of Summer Holidays

Pupils and students from the Vale Academy Trust’s nine schools participated in a series of exciting events to mark the end of the academic term. These included a dynamic Olympics competition and the prestigious Character and Citizenship Awards ceremony.

The Vale Academy Trust Olympics

Primary school pupils eagerly joined in the Vale Academy Trust Olympics, which fostered teamwork, competition, and fun. The event brought together 300 Year 5 pupils who competed in athletics and other engaging activities. Teams represented countries such as Brazil, Jamaica, France, and the USA, creating a lively and inclusive atmosphere.

Younger participants were joined by Year 7 and 8 students, emphasizing teamwork and school community spirit. This large-scale event not only encouraged sportsmanship but also provided an opportunity for students to strengthen bonds with peers and celebrate their collective achievements.

The Character and Citizenship Awards

Recognition for character and values stood out in the trust’s Character and Citizenship Awards ceremony. Hosted by Elizabeth Paris, deputy lieutenant of Oxfordshire, and Dr. Beth Taylor, chair of the trust’s board of trustees, the event celebrated 57 Year 6 students with certificates and badges for their outstanding conduct.

A key highlight of the ceremony was hearing five students express their thoughts on the awards’ importance and how it has positively shaped their character development. Almost 200 attendees witnessed the inspiring speeches which reflected the program’s impact on nurturing responsible future citizens.

Director of Education, Hazel Pittard, praised the success of the awards, now in their second year: “We are delighted with the growth and success of the awards. It’s heartening to see that recognizing good character encourages such positive behavior among pupils. A growing number of students have demonstrated their commitment, with record numbers achieving the coveted Platinum stage this year.”
