Vale Academy Trust Schools Wrap Up Summer Term with Festive Olympics and Inspiring Awards Ceremony

The end of the summer term brought joy and inspiration to students from the Vale Academy Trust’s nine schools, as they participated in a variety of enriching events. From the lively Vale Academy Trust Olympics to the esteemed Character and Citizenship Awards Ceremony, the term ended on a high note, fostering community, sportsmanship, and personal growth.

Primary School Pupils Shine in Events

Primary school pupils embraced the excitement of events such as the Academy Olympics and the Character and Citizenship Awards Ceremony. These activities not only celebrated competition and teamwork but also recognized the importance of strong character and responsible citizenship.

The Platinum Character and Citizenship Award winners from St James C of E Primary School had a particularly memorable experience. During the inspirational ceremony, Elizabeth Paris, the Deputy Lieutenant of Oxfordshire, presented certificates and badges to 57 exceptional Year 6 pupils. The presentation was graced by the presence of Dr. Beth Taylor, Chair of the Trust’s Board of Trustees, adding further significance to the students’ accomplishments.

Pupils Share Their Experiences

Five courageous students stood before an audience of nearly 200 attendees to share their perspectives on the awards. They expressed gratitude and reflected on how this recognition has positively influenced their lives, inspired personal growth, and encouraged them to strive for excellence in character and citizenship.

Recognition for Character Development

Hazel Pittard, Director of Education at the Trust, highlighted the success of these awards: “We are delighted with the success and growth of the awards, now in their second year. All pupils are successfully working their way through the Bronze, Silver, and Gold stages, with more than ever achieving their Platinum. It’s encouraging to see how the recognition and reward for developing good character is helping to embed these behaviours and that pupils are indeed showing themselves to be responsible future citizens.”

Olympics Event: A Platform for Competition and Fun

Adding to the excitement, the Olympic event hosted by the Trust brought together approximately 300 Year 5 pupils for a day of athletic challenges and team-based competitions. Representing countries such as Brazil, Jamaica, France, and the USA, students showcased their sporting talents and team spirit. They were supported and joined by Year 7 and 8 students, making the event both inclusive and motivational.

The end of the summer term was a celebration of academic achievements, personal development, and sheer joy. By engaging in activities that united students across the nine schools, the Vale Academy Trust fostered a sense of community, resilience, and shared purpose.
