The incident occurred just before 5 pm yesterday (Sunday, December 15) when a young man in his late teens reported being stabbed in the back near the Bay Tree pub in Grove. While walking from the car park towards Denchworth Road, he felt an impact on his back. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and has since been discharged.
At present, no arrests have been made, and there is an active scene-watch in place at the location. Thames Valley Police have launched a public appeal for information related to this incident. They have reassured the community there is no broader threat to the public as the victim and offender are known to each other.
Detective Inspector Richard Allmond from the Abingdon Criminal Investigation Department (CID) stated: “I am appealing to anybody who may have witnessed this incident or has dash-cam, doorbell, or mobile phone footage that captured the incident to please get in touch with Thames Valley Police. Reports can be made online or by calling 101, quoting the reference number 43240606332. Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.”
Allmond added, “Although this is still in the early stages of the investigation, preliminary inquiries suggest this is an isolated case with the victim and offender known to each other, posing no wider risk to the public. Officers are diligently working to gather evidence and locate the suspect. If you have any information that could assist this investigation further, please do not hesitate to contact us.
