Students at King Alfred’s Academy marked a significant milestone as they celebrated their GCSE and BTEC results. Following the rigorous Year 11 examination process, staff, students, and parents came together to commend the dedication and resilience the students demonstrated throughout the academic year.
Exam Results Review
The analysis of results revealed that 66% of the cohort achieved at least five GCSE or BTEC qualifications at grade 4 or equivalent. Impressively, more than 128 students attained 10 or more GCSE or BTEC qualifications. Additionally, 37% of students opted to take separate individual GCSEs in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
In English, 74% of students achieved grades 9 to 4, while Mathematics saw 70% reach the same benchmark. Furthermore, 65% of students obtained grades 9 to 4 in both English and Mathematics. Overall, 66% of the students attained five or more GCSE or BTEC qualifications with grades in the 9 to 4 range.

Headteacher Jonathan Smart praised the students for their outstanding achievements, stating, “These GCSE and BTEC outcomes match the strong results achieved by last year’s cohort. Each of our students should be enormously proud of the application and hard work demonstrated in achieving these outcomes.” He expressed his admiration for students who are now taking the next step toward their education and career goals and extended his gratitude to the teaching staff for their unwavering dedication and support.
Top Achievers
The school celebrated the exceptional performances of several standout students:
- Francesca Ruda: Achieved an extraordinary 13 GCSEs at grades 9-5, including independently pursuing a GCSE in Latin, showcasing her academic curiosity.
- Megan Spencer: Earned 12 GCSEs at grades 9-5, with nine at grade 7 or higher. Megan also independently studied German as part of her achievements.
- Thomas Reeves: Secured 11 GCSEs at grades 9-5, of which 10 were grade 7 or higher. Thomas managed these excellent results alongside his responsibilities as a Year 11 House Captain.
- Craig Leppinen: Completed 12 GCSEs at grades 9-5, with nine at grade 7 or higher and four achieving the top grade of 9.
Overall Statistics
In total, 54% of King Alfred’s Academy students achieved 10 or more GCSE or BTEC qualifications, showcasing not just academic excellence but also the dedication and perseverance of the entire school community.
