From apprentice to lead educator - hair is in my blood.
From apprentice to lead educator - hair is in my blood.
Hair has always been in my blood, as my mother was a trained stylist and still practices this trade to this day. My childhood memories consist of being dragged around to see different clients where I'd sit in front of the TV, often bored while my mum worked her magic. Consequently, I started watching and observing her, carefully studying the way in which she served her clients. It was a remarkable sight to see how they felt during and after her impeccable hair services.
As I turned 14, I started working at a well-known local salon as a Saturday boy. I was impressed by the salon's creative team, who could create incredible hairstyles out of seemingly nothing. It was at this point that I saw the artistic beauty of the profession, and I was hooked. As soon as I reached the school-leaving age, I began my intense apprenticeship, which was exhausting but fulfilling.
After years of working and learning, I decided to leave that salon group and move on to Toni and Guy, where I completed my training and graduated with distinction-level. I swiftly rose to the rank of Style Director after starting work as a stylist on the salon floor. As I gained more experience, I was quickly appointed one of the salon educators, ensuring that all trainees received the necessary assistance they required through their NVQs. Eventually, I was promoted to the role of the lead salon educator, where I delivered additional in-salon training to trainees before their final exams at the Academy in London.
