Thames Valley Police reacted swiftly to reports of an alleged altercation in Wantage town centre on the night of Friday, April 25, around 10.45 pm.
Following the incident, four arrests were made, and one individual was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The police have initiated an appeal for any witnesses to come forward with information.
A spokesperson from Thames Valley Police provided details on the situation: “At approximately 10.45 pm on April 25, we received a call concerning a reported stabbing in Market Place, Wantage.
“The incident involved a group of individuals in a confrontation in the town centre, who subsequently fled the scene. Officers are actively investigating and have made four arrests.
“Those arrested include a 21-year-old man from Wantage, held on suspicion of affray and possession of a class A controlled substance, and a 30-year-old man with no fixed abode, detained on suspicion of affray, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, and drink driving.
“Additionally, a 25-year-old man from Oxford was arrested under suspicion of affray, robbery, and possession of a class A controlled substance. Also, a 20-year-old man from Oxford was taken into custody on suspicion of affray and possession of a bladed article in a public place.
“One victim received minor injuries requiring hospital attention.”
