Community Digs In: Wantage Residents Plant Seeds for Biodiversity

Around 20 people gathered at the Manor Road Recreation Ground in Wantage on Saturday, January 18, with their spades ready to make a difference. The event was organized by Sustainable Wantage, a dedicated community action group.

Organizers shared, “Our Wild Wantage project aims to enhance our green spaces, promoting biodiversity of local species. Along with running work parties, we manage Pewit Woodland and other Growing Projects. The Market Garden is also operated with biodiversity in mind.”

They continued, “We are striving to create a network of nature-rich sites of all sizes and encourage everyone in the community to get involved by taking action at home.”

The organizers expressed gratitude to all participants, including Wantage Town Council for providing the plants to support the initiative.
