Wantage White Horses Swimmers to Compete at National Summer Meet

Four members of the Wantage White Horses Swimming Club are gearing up to make waves at this year’s Swim England National Summer Meet. The prestigious event is set to take place at Ponds Forge in Sheffield from July 29 to August 3. Representing the club are talented swimmers Ben Cooper, Tayla Curtis, Gavina Semonella, and Minnie Wilkinson.

Meet the Swimmers

Leading the team is Ben Cooper, who has proven exceptional in the pool. He is set to compete in three highly competitive breaststroke events. Meanwhile, Tayla Curtis will showcase her aquatic skills in two breaststroke events. Gavina Semonella, an inspiring S14 para swimmer, will tackle the challenge of the 100m breaststroke event.

The youngest member, 12-year-old Minnie Wilkinson, is ready to leave her mark in the 200m individual medley. With each swimmer demonstrating exceptional potential, the club is confident about their performances in the upcoming competition.

Club Coach Expresses Pride

Sharing her excitement, head coach Melanie Cumberland remarked, “This is a fantastic achievement this year for all swimmers and the club. It is wonderful to see four of our Wantage White Horses swimmers competing at these championships this year. We are all extremely proud of them.”

Preparation for the Big Event

Recently, the team practiced intensively at Bath University, focusing on long courses to prepare for the highly competitive meet. Their dedicated training sessions, coupled with a determined mindset, position them for success at this national championship.
