On Saturday, August 3, Wantage Town Football Club transformed into a vibrant music hub as it hosted the second edition of its highly-anticipated music event, FredFest. This year’s festival was even bigger and better than its predecessor, featuring a diverse range of acts including BRIT-nominated band Toploader, popular tribute performers, and talented local artists. Music lovers enjoyed an array of fantastic tunes throughout the afternoon and evening.
As preparations for FredFest ramped up, the event committee shared their excitement and emphasized the significance of the festival for the football club’s future. They said, “Our fundraising team is busy getting everything ready to welcome you through the gates at the football club, so help us make this year’s FredFest music festival the best one yet!”
The committee also highlighted the importance of fundraising for the club’s improvements and their ongoing mission to meet Football Association (FA) standards. They added, “You’ll notice improvements as you arrive at the club, such as better changing facilities, an upgraded water supply, and safer site access. However, we have even bigger plans to support our players and the local community.”
One of the club’s ambitious goals is to develop all-weather pitches, designed to provide year-round usage for their many junior and adult teams. This initiative reflects their commitment to delivering high-quality facilities for local athletes, community groups, and schools.
FredFest’s Impact and Vision
The inaugural FredFest in 2019 paved the way for this continued success, serving as a critical fundraising event for the club. The funds raised during the first festival significantly contributed to the project of installing a state-of-the-art 3G pitch. The committee shared, “The ball is in motion for our 3G pitch, thanks to the funds raised after our first-ever FredFest music festival.”
However, establishing modern facilities comes at a high cost, and the committee has appealed for additional financial assistance to keep the project on track. “These facilities do not come cheap, and we need another injection of funds to ensure the project stays on course,” they said.
