UK MP Backs Pivotal Climate and Nature Bill Amid Rising Constituent Concerns

Olly Glover, the Liberal Democrat MP for Didcot and Wantage, has announced his support for an important piece of legislation focused on environmental conservation.

The bill, sponsored by Dr. Roz Savage, another Liberal Democrat MP from South Cotswolds, is set for its second reading debate and vote on Friday, January 24.

Mr. Glover noted that he has received numerous messages from constituents expressing concern about climate change, many of whom are eager to see immediate steps taken towards achieving net zero emissions.

He remarked, “I will be voting in favor of the Climate and Nature Bill so we can put the UK back on track to meet our global commitments. Tackling the climate crisis was a key campaign issue during the election. My constituents repeatedly tell me they are worried about the future of the climate and environment. This is an opportunity for all MPs to urge the government to act now to protect our planet and people.”

If successful, the bill will update Britain’s climate and environmental legislation to align with international commitments aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and reversing the loss of nature. It has already garnered support from notable individuals such as chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, naturalist and TV presenter Chris Packham, businesswoman Deborah Meaden, and former Conservative MP Chris Skidmore.
