Fiona Upton, a resident of St. Marys Convent on Denchworth Road in Wantage, sadly passed away on September 1. The tragic incident occurred when she was involved in a collision with a Kawasaki motorcycle on the A417 Mably Way, situated between Denchworth Road and Grove Road.
Following the incident, Sergeant Ruan Brink from the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit expressed condolences to Ms. Upton’s loved ones. He urged anyone who was in the area at the time to check their dash-cam footage, as it may provide crucial information about the collision or the events leading up to it. An inquest into the 60-year-old’s death was initiated on September 18 at the Oxford Coroner’s Court, led by area coroner Nicholas Graham. The inquest revealed that Ms. Upton was a Postulant at the Community Of St. Mary The Virgin, and it was confirmed that she was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident due to multiple injuries sustained from the collision.
A comprehensive inquest is scheduled to take place at the Oxford Coroner’s Court on March 17 of the following year at 2 pm.
