Year 11 students in Wallingford, Didcot, Abingdon, and Wantage eagerly returned to their schools on August 21 to receive their long-awaited exam results. Headteachers across the region expressed immense pride in their students, as many continue their education into sixth form, while others embark on new academic journeys at different schools and colleges.

At Wallingford School, headteacher John Marston celebrated the many success stories, applauding both the quality of teaching and the students’ dedication. He emphasized the achievements beyond the headline results, sharing that nearly 30 percent of the students achieved at least five grade 7s or better.

Meanwhile, Aureus School in Didcot celebrated its best-ever GCSE results for the second consecutive year. With headteacher Kirsty Rogers at the helm, the school marked remarkable progress, as students achieved significantly higher grades across all subjects. Didcot Girls’ School also praised its students’ exceptional performance, with 42 percent achieving top grades of 7 to 9, reflecting the consistent hard work of both students and staff.

Over in Abingdon, Fitzharrys School’s headteacher, Mr. Will Speke, shared the joy of seeing proud students receiving their results. More than half of its students will move on to JMF6, the school’s shared sixth form, to further their education. John Mason School showcased a rise in its average grades, proudly mentioning standout students Devan, Nevin, and George, who are all set to pursue A-levels.

At Abingdon School, a remarkable 43.7 percent of passes were at grade 9, illustrating the dedication and high-quality teaching the school provides. Headteacher Michael Windsor praised both students and staff for their outstanding performance on results day.

Finally, in Wantage, King Alfred’s Academy congratulated its year 11s, as 55 percent achieved at least five GCSEs or BTEC qualifications including English and Maths at grade 4 or above.
