The fundraiser at the Wantage Leisure Centre on Thursday, August 7, was a dynamic community event that challenged participants to swim, cycle, and run as much as possible over four hours.
Organiser Max Brinkley emphasized the importance of community spirit, noting how tackling tough challenges together can make them more manageable. “The event was especially significant for me, as it was in honor of my friend Adam, who passed away a few years ago. Promoting open discussions about mental health is crucial,” Brinkley shared.
The chosen charity was Oxfordshire Mind, which supports over 10,000 individuals facing mental health challenges each year. They focus on raising awareness and advocating for change, making the organization a fitting beneficiary.
Overall, participants swam 63 km, biked 349.4 km, and ran 122.6 km, with Brinkley expressing immense pride in their collective achievement. So far, the fundraiser has accumulated £732, with a target goal of £1,000. Max Brinkley encourages anyone struggling to speak up and seek help, noting that all contributions, irrespective of size, are highly valued.
