Residents in Brereton Drive, in Grove, have reported seeing tankers shuttling between the pumping station in East Hanney and the mains near their homes.
One resident noted, “Clearly, the sewage system is not coping. Big tankers have been coming backwards and forwards 24 hours a day.” The resident added that the work had been ongoing for around a week, with approximately 20 tankers daily.
A Thames Water spokesperson confirmed that the work should be completed within the next week, attributing the situation to a burst sewer pipe at a local pumping station. The spokesperson stated, “We are sorry to residents and motorists in East Hanney and Grove for any disruption as a result of our activity in the area. Our teams are working to repair a burst sewer pipe at a local pumping station. Due to its location, an excavation is required to make the repair, which is expected to be completed over the next week.
“We have brought in tankers to help control the flow and distribute excess waste to other parts of our network, so customers can continue to use their facilities as normal.”
