Have Your Say: Help Shape Wantage’s Future with the New Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan!

A draft Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan for Wantage is now open for public feedback through Oxfordshire County Council’s consultation platform, Let’s Talk Oxfordshire, until September 18.

This long-term plan aims to improve walking, wheeling, and cycling routes across the town, enhancing accessibility and promoting healthier, eco-friendly transportation options across Wantage.

Andrew Gant, the council’s cabinet member for transport management, stated: “Improving the routes in Wantage and surrounding areas will enable more people to use alternatives to the car or public transport to make our roads safer and our environment healthier.

“This plan has been drafted using valuable insights that people have taken the time to share with us, and it is now our intention to take those changes forward and make these routes the best we can.

“I encourage people to look carefully at the plan and share their impressions with us, including whether the most important walking and cycling routes and improvements have been identified and what we can do to make the plan better.”

The development plan covers Wantage, Grove, and East Challow, proposing enhancements over the next 10 years. It has been shaped using feedback gathered through a map-based public engagement exercise carried out last year.

Input from the current consultation will be crucial in refining the proposals. The final version is expected to be presented later this year or in early 2026. Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to review the details and have their say during this key stage of development.
