The Midcounties Co-operative is set to open a new local store in the Kingsgrove Estate of Wantage, a development poised to include 1,500 homes upon completion. The store, situated on Daisy Lane, will open its doors next Thursday, March 13, serving the community from 7am to 10pm daily.
To commemorate the opening, the Co-operative, a network of businesses spanning over 230 stores in Oxfordshire and surrounding areas, will offer a special treat for its first 50 customers. Each of these lucky patrons will receive a Golden Ticket, guaranteeing a prize ranging from a luxury hamper to up to £100 to spend in-store.
During the opening weekend on March 14 and 15, complimentary tastings will be available, and all shoppers will enjoy a 10% discount at the Kingsgrove Co-op for the first 10 days until Sunday, March 23.
Natalie Broyd, the store manager, expressed enthusiasm about the store’s impending opening: “We can’t wait to open our doors to the Kingsgrove Estate community in March. The opening day will feature an array of fantastic activities, including 50 amazing prizes up for grabs and the opportunity to sample some of our best-selling products throughout the weekend. We’re proud to be investing in the local area and supporting the local community with convenience, exceptional quality, and a wide range of Fairtrade products. We look forward to welcoming customers to our new store – and best of luck to the first 50 visitors who will receive a Golden Ticket.”
In addition to food retail, the Midcounties Co-op extends its services through travel, childcare, energy, broadband, and mobile operations across the nation. Coming this Autumn, a new Little Pioneers nursery and pre-school is set to open in the Kingsgrove estate, conveniently located near the new food store. This facility will boast three distinct rooms designed for tailored learning, on-site parking, a large garden for outdoor play, and a designated parents’ room.
The Co-operative also proudly introduced its Doing Good Together Fund, allowing members to apply for grants that support local causes they value. This initiative reflects the collective wish of its more than 700,000 members to give back to their communities. The fund aims to use a larger portion of the society’s profits to benefit local initiatives, such as those in the Kingsgrove area. Grants might support various community endeavors, including dinner and dance sessions for individuals with dementia, greening projects for parks, treats for book clubs, or sports equipment for cricket teams.
