Prior to running The Blue Boar, Balla and Pundere managed the popular wine bar 30 Something in Market Place. The wine bar enjoyed five successful years before its growing popularity necessitated a move to a larger space. This led them to The Blue Boar, where they embarked on a transformative project to change the atmosphere and functionality of the space.
The Blue Boar, once a sports bar, has been completely revamped into a family-friendly pub designed to welcome all patrons. The five-month renovation process included significant updates, such as rebuilding the toilets, installing a new ceiling and bar, and creating a state-of-the-art cellar. These changes reflect the couple’s commitment to providing a high-quality experience for their customers.
One of the highlights of The Blue Boar is its expanded drink offerings, which include a variety of craft beers, some of which are imported from Belgium and the United States. Patrons have embraced the pub’s welcoming environment and unique style, with many loyal customers following the couple from their previous venture.
Balla noted that while The Blue Boar may not be the least expensive option in town, the slightly higher prices ensure a better level of service and product quality.
