Eagle Pizza faces food hygiene scrutiny after receiving low rating from inspection

On June 22, a food hygiene inspector visited Eagle Pizza, located at Grovelands Centre on 7 Saville Way in Grove. During the inspection, the takeaway received a rating of one out of five. The owner of Eagle Pizza, Sakar Mohammed Ali, noted that improvements had already been implemented in response to the low rating, and mentioned that a new inspection was expected within a month. Ali stated, “It is under new management now. If we don’t receive a five-score rating next time, then it will definitely be a four.” This highlights the efforts being made to improve hygiene standards within the establishment.

Customer reviews of Eagle Pizza on Trip Advisor present mixed opinions. Out of three reviews, one praised the restaurant’s offerings, labeling the pizza as “excellent,” while the other two described it as “poor” and “terrible.” A reviewer identified as Vesnac2014, who visited in March of the previous year, expressed satisfaction, describing the pizza as “amazing.” They noted, “Not sure why there are so many bad reviews for Eagle Pizza! We usually get pizza from here once a fortnight and I can’t fault it. It’s delicious!!! So much cheaper than Dominoes and tasty toppings too.”

On the same day as the Eagle Pizza inspection, a food hygiene inspector also assessed The Fox and Hounds, located in Faringdon. This establishment received a solid rating of four out of five. Additionally, Sodexo UK Ltd, a catering company operating at RAF Benson, also earned a four out of five hygiene rating following an inspection conducted on June 22.

The latest assessments highlight the broader food hygiene trends in the area. In South Oxfordshire, out of the 276 restaurants, cafes, and canteens rated for hygiene, 141 establishments (51%) hold the highest rating of five, and notably, none have received a rating of zero. These figures underline the overall commitment to food safety across the region.
