Officers were present in the Wantage, Ashbury, and Lambourn areas yesterday (Saturday, January 25).
Residents were encouraged to report incidents to 999.
In a statement issued on Saturday night, Thames Valley Police Rural Taskforce stated: “The taskforce responded to reports of hare coursing in the Wantage, Ashbury, and Lambourn areas today. If hare coursing is witnessed, please report it to us on 999 as a crime in progress. Using what3words helps us get to the right area quickly.”
Hare coursing is an illegal activity where dogs are used to chase, catch, and kill hares. Although both poaching and hare coursing were historically popular in Britain, they are now illegal and classified as animal cruelty.
