Gerald Kent, of Whitehorns Farm Road, Charlton, near Wantage, passed away on November 15 at Sobell House in Headington.
An inquest opened into the 87-year-old’s death at Oxford Coroner’s Court by area coroner Nicholas Graham on Monday, December 9.
The inquest heard he underwent surgery to remove a large rectal adenoma but developed post-surgical complications.
A post mortem revealed that the main cause of death was E.coli sepsis. Secondary causes included ischaemic heart disease, a type of kidney disease, and a heart condition.
A full inquest will be held at Oxford Coroner’s Court on March 25 at 11.45am.
