Award winning play comes to Wantage!
AmEgos Theatre Company was established 12 years ago for local amateur performers, and they have produced a musical and a play each year since then. Their latest production in an amazing adaptation of Mark Haddon’s well-loved book, THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME – the play went on to win 7 Olivier awards, including Best Play.
The story is set in Swindon and London and centres around Christopher John Francis Boone, a 15-year-old boy who is highly intelligent, a would-be astronaut and a mathematician with some behavioural difficulties. Haddon said about his story - it’s about difference, about being an outsider, about seeing the world in a surprising and revealing way.
There are 10 actors on stage, hailing from Wantage, Grove and around Oxfordshire, and Christopher is played by 17 year old Charlie Maline from Faringdon. It is an insightful, moving and often darkly comic play, which will appeal to all lovers of drama and theatre.
· There are four performances from 31st October to 2nd November at 7.30pm nightly
· There is a relaxed performance at 2.30pm on Saturday 2nd November where we hope to create a comfortable and inclusive experience for all, by adjusting sound, lighting, and movement, and we will have a more laid-back approach to noises or movement from the audience.
· The venue is King Alfred’s Academy Theatre, Portway, Wantage, OX12 9BY
