About Me

Hi, I'm Nikki - a professional dog walker with a passion for animal care. While I've been walking dogs professionally since 2017, I've cared for furry friends all of my life.

Background

Having grown up in Scotland, my family rescued German Shepherds and I started walking and caring for them from an early age. I've developed a soft spot for this breed, although I've bonded with many other dogs throughout my career.

I've worked with all sorts of breeds, from small fluffy Pomeranians, dachshunds, and terriers to pitbull, boxers, and rottweiler mixes. I'm experienced with puppies and adult dogs, trained and untrained, and have dealt with a variety of needs and behaviors. I've also worked with rescues and street dogs, taking pride in watching them settle in, grow, and become healthy and confident.

Professional Experience

In 2017, I knew that working alongside animals was the only job I wanted to do full-time. So, I began working self-employed alongside a dog-walking agency based in London. I spent 6-8 hours per day with dogs, walking, feeding, training, playing, sitting and boarding them.

When I moved to Oxfordshire in 2020, I continued my passion by volunteering at animal centres and letting people know about my availability to care for their pets. In addition to dogs and cats, I'm also happy to visit and pet sit for a wide array of animals, including rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, and snakes.

About My Own Dogs

I'm also a proud dog parent myself! Ariel, my Yorkie/Silky mix came to me in 2015 when she was two years old. She was a very nervous little dog, but we bonded immediately. She's now playful and happy, although she doesn't interact well with other dogs. I recently adopted Lewy, a terrier mix who is a sweet, independent, and energetic boy. We're working on overcoming his fears, insecurities, and dietary issues.

The Joy of Working with Animals

One of my favourite moments on a walk is when the dogs have been running, playing, and having a blast, and we stop for a drink, treats, and cuddles. They're always so happy, and it's so fulfilling to care for them. I thoroughly love all of my furry friends and am grateful to say that I love my job.
