Officers conducted a raid in St Mary’s, Wantage on Friday, September 26, seizing “a number of items.”
A man and a woman were both arrested in connection with the investigation and have been bailed pending further inquiries.
This action follows a recent community survey in Wantage, where a significant concern was highlighted by residents.
“One message came through loud and clear: drug dealing is a major concern, ranking as the second highest priority for residents in our area,” a police spokesman said.
“We are fully committed to stamping out the supply of drugs in our community. Drug dealing devastates lives, fuels crime, and tears at the fabric of our towns.”
The police emphasize the importance of community cooperation. “We can’t do it alone. We rely on the community to tell us what they see and hear. Without your information, we cannot secure the warrants needed to take action. Every report helps us build a safer Wantage and Grove.”
“To those involved in drug supply in Wantage: we will identify you. We will gather the intelligence, secure the warrants, and force entry into your property—at any hour, without warning,” the spokesman continued. “If you are dealing drugs in our town, be prepared for a visit when you least expect it.”
Officers in Wantage have been coordinating closely with colleagues based in neighboring areas such as Abingdon, Henley, Thame, and Didcot to ensure a unified approach to tackling the issue.
