**Bristol Arrest: Key Suspect in Wantage Vehicle Thefts Charged with 17 Offences**

A series of thefts from motor vehicles occurred in and around Wantage between May and July this year, particularly affecting the Kingsgrove Estate and Milton regions.

A 27-year-old man was tracked down in Bristol and arrested as a key suspect involved in these crimes on Thursday, August 21st.

A spokesperson for the Wantage and Grove neighbourhood policing team of Thames Valley Police stated: “These incidents caused concern across the area, and we’ve been working relentlessly to identify and pursue those responsible.

“Once arrested, our team travelled to interview him personally and he has now been bailed for offences linked to this series.”

The man was charged with 10 counts of theft and seven fraud offences in connection with the motor vehicle thefts.

The policing team added: “Let this serve as a message: if you commit crime in our area, we will track you down—no matter where you are.”

They also issued crime prevention tips with advice on how people can protect their vehicles.

  • Lock the car every time you leave it, even if for a short time only.
  • Remove all valuables from sight to avoid tempting thieves.
  • Park in well-lit, secure areas whenever possible.
  • Consider installing dash cams or alarms to deter crime.

The neighbourhood team emphasized: “We’re committed to keeping Wantage and Grove safe—and we won’t stop until offenders are held accountable.”
