As part of a comprehensive 2023 patient survey, individuals were asked to share their experiences regarding appointment scheduling, the usability of their GP’s website, and the helpfulness of reception staff.
Many patients highlighted the performance of various surgeries across Oxfordshire. For instance, at the Wychwood Surgery in Shipton-under-Wychwood, all survey respondents praised the helpfulness of the receptionists. Following closely, Islip Surgery in Kidlington scored 98.56% satisfaction, and Berinsfield Health Centre in Wallingford registered 97.53% approval.
The survey revealed areas needing improvement as well. At the Newbury Street Practice in Wantage, 34.91% of patients reported dissatisfaction with the receptionist service. Similarly, Malthouse Surgery in Abingdon and Oak Tree Health Centre in Didcot were noted for lower receptionist satisfaction scores, at 30.87% and 30.34%, respectively.
The ease of contacting surgeries via phone was also evaluated. Nettlebed Surgery in Henley led with a satisfaction rate of 98.69%. Close behind were Wychwood Surgery at 98.29% and Berinsfield Health Centre with 97.72%.

At the other end of the spectrum, 67% of Newbury Street Practice’s patients reported struggling with phone communication. Didcot’s Oaktree Health Centre and Didcot Health Centre Practice had challenging phone systems for 66.02% and 63.8% of patients, respectively.
The ease of using practice websites was another key survey topic. Hart Surgery in Henley offered the most user-friendly online experience, appreciated by 90.88% of its patients. This was followed by Berinsfield Health Centre with 87.23% satisfaction and the Manor Surgery in Headington with 84.94%.
Conversely, Didcot Health Centre Practice’s website posed difficulties for 67.77% of its users. Other surgeries with challenging websites included Nuffield Health Centre in Witney with 60.76% of patient dissatisfaction, and Bampton Surgery with a dissatisfaction rate of 58.41%.
