Air Ambulance Dispatched to Major Incident in Wantage: Witness Reports and Official Statements

Eyewitnesses reported seeing police and ambulances in Hamilton Drive, between Wantage and East Challow, at about midday on Thursday, June 26.

There were also sightings of an air ambulance, which eyewitnesses said landed on a field near to a secondary school.

As of today, June 27, it has been confirmed that an air ambulance was sent to the scene. A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust stated, “We were called at 12:13 hrs on Thursday, June 26 to an incident in Wantage. An air ambulance was dispatched to the scene.”

It is understood that the incident was led by the South Central Ambulance Service.

A spokesperson for the Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity mentioned, “Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity was called to Wantage at 12:13 pm for a trauma incident. We responded in our helicopter, with our doctor and critical care paramedic treating the patient on scene.

“The patient was then transported by land to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, with our team assisting that transfer.”

Currently, the circumstances surrounding the incident are not known. Thames Valley Police has been contacted for further information.
