Upcoming Nighttime Closure of B4507: Essential Roadworks and Detours Announced

The B4507, located between Ashbury and Woolstone in the Vale of White Horse area, is set to be closed for essential maintenance. This closure, at the county border with Wiltshire, will impact the stretch from the Odstone Farm entry to the Knighton Hill junction beginning Monday, June 30.

According to a public notice by Oxfordshire County Council, the responsible highways authority, the road is scheduled to reopen by Saturday, July 4, at 6am. During this period, the road closure will be enforced between 10pm and 6am daily, necessitating an 18-mile (or 29-kilometre) diversion for drivers.

The suggested diversion route includes the B4507, B4000, B4001, New Road, Holborn Hill, and back to the B4507. This route is designed to efficiently redirect traffic while the work is underway.

Speaking about the closure, Phil Whitfield, head of network management, stated: “Limited access will be maintained for emergency service vehicles and for frontages within the closed section of road, subject to the progress of the works. Access will be maintained for cyclists and pedestrians.”

Whitfield further explained that the work is aimed at locating, proving, and excavating any blockages found, as well as installing new cables to improve infrastructure.
