Octogenarian and Dog in A338 Accident: Appeal for Witnesses as Police Investigate Collision

Thames Valley Police reported that officers attended a collision on the A338 between Wantage and Grove, involving a vehicle and a pedestrian, at 4.40 pm on Monday, May 19.

The pedestrian, a woman in her 80s, was walking her dog during the incident. She sustained serious injuries and is currently in hospital, but fortunately, the dog was unharmed.

The road was closed for several hours, and an air ambulance was present to provide advanced critical care.

The involved vehicle was a black Hyundai i10, and the driver is fully cooperating with ongoing inquiries. No arrests have been made at this stage.

Investigating officer, PC Chris Weatherley of the Roads Policing Unit, stated, “I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this collision to please come forward. If you saw anything or have dash-cam footage of the collision or the moments leading up to it, please get in touch.

“I would particularly like to appeal to the driver of a white van that was behind the Hyundai to please come forward as they may have witnessed the collision.”
