Police responded to an incident on Goodbody Close, Faringdon, during the early hours where a man was reportedly causing a disturbance with a rifle inside a property, according to an eyewitness.

Thames Valley Police confirmed that the suspect has been arrested by armed officers on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and theft.

A police spokesperson stated, “We attended a property in Goodbody Close at about 2:23 am on March 6 to make an arrest attempt related to a firearms offence. Our officers conducted an armed deployment outside the property, and the incident has now been resolved. Several police units were present throughout the day at Goodbody Close.”

The suspect, a 23-year-old man from Abingdon, remains in custody on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and theft. Authorities assure the public there is no wider threat but recommend avoiding the area as officers continue to work on-site.
