Last week, Shaun Mullee stood trial at Oxford Crown Court, facing charges of sexual abuse against a woman on August 14, 2022. The incident reportedly occurred at a campsite near The Trout Inn pub in Wolvercote.
The 43-year-old Mullee, who resides in Davies Meadow, East Hanney, pleaded not guilty to the accusations. Despite his denial, a jury found him guilty, and he is now scheduled to be sentenced on April 25 at the same court.
During the proceedings, a friend who was camping with Mullee and the victim recounted events to the jury. The group of camping enthusiasts, with a shared affection for VW Campervans, had enjoyed a BBQ and swim that afternoon. They later indulged in a few drinks, and when they returned to the campsite, tensions arose, leading to the incident.
A witness described a distressing scene, noting, “She did not go into any details but she said ‘Shaun raped me’ and was crying…she was really distraught.”
Among the evidence presented were messages from Mullee to the complainant, found on her phone. One of these messages ambiguously stated, “What’s going mate? I stopped when you said.”
