Padel is rapidly emerging as the world’s fastest-growing racket sport. Its popularity in Spain and Latin America is spreading internationally, gaining traction in countries like the UK, Germany, France, the Middle East, Australia, Canada, and the United States.
As a hybrid of tennis and squash, padel utilizes tennis balls and specially designed racquets. The padel court is smaller than a traditional tennis court and is enclosed by glass and mesh panels, featuring a net that divides it into halves.
The proposal for the new padel court at Wantage Lawn Tennis Club, outlined in the planning statement, emphasizes enhancing the community’s recreational facilities. It’s envisioned to foster greater health, social, and participation benefits for local residents by creating additional space for formal outdoor activities.
No public feedback has been submitted yet to the Vale of White Horse District Council either in support or objection to the plans.
