Phillip Dawson, a resident of Springfield Road, Wantage, was initially charged in 2013 with an attempted sexual activity with a child under 16, which occurred on March 26, 2009. He confessed to causing or inciting a child under 16 to engage in sexual activity on June 28, 2011. He also pleaded guilty to possessing and making indecent images of children. At the time, Dawson claimed he had been ‘effectively blackmailed by persons unknown over the internet’ and received a three-year community order.
Recently, the 50-year-old has faced charges involving the making of indecent photographs of a child and possessing a prohibited image of a child. He indicated guilt to possessing a total of 19 Category A images, 14 Category B images, 53 Category C images, and one prohibited image of a child between April 10, 2021, and May 2, 2022, in Wantage.
Dawson pleaded guilty at a hearing in Oxford Magistrates’ Court on December 6, 2022, and is due for sentencing at Oxford Crown Court on February 27. He has been granted unconditional bail until his next appearance.
