The men were caught by Thames Valley Police rural crime taskforce in Duns Tew, a rural area near Banbury and Bicester, with a ferret in their possession.
Police constables Tillyer, Uren, and Butler addressed the situation by issuing community resolution and community protection warnings to the suspects.
Poaching refers to the illegal hunting or capture of wild animals that are either protected by law or not owned by the individual hunting them. Ferrets are sometimes utilized in “ferreting,” a method where these animals are employed to drive out and capture rodents, particularly rabbits, from their burrows.
The rural crime taskforce also reported spending time on Sunday, January 12, at a car boot sale and supporting a neighborhood search for hare coursers near Wantage.
