With inflation steadily climbing, first-time buyers are finding themselves in a challenging position, navigating an increasingly difficult housing market. Securing an affordable mortgage has become a daunting task, leading many to explore renting as a more feasible option.
To support this shift, BLG Development Finance and Online Marketing Surgery have partnered to produce the Rent Report, a detailed analysis of average rental prices across Oxfordshire from January to July this year. This report identifies the best and most expensive areas to rent, serving as a practical tool for prospective tenants looking to make informed decisions.
The Findings
Bicester, in the Cherwell area, boasts the lowest average rent in Oxfordshire at £1,123 per month. Conversely, Oxford emerged as the most expensive location, with average rents totaling £1,660 per month. The Vale of White Horse, which includes Wantage and surrounding villages, represents a balanced mid-point, with an average rent of £1,222 per month. West Oxfordshire slightly surpassed this figure, averaging £1,226, while South Oxfordshire reached £1,250 per month.
The Methodology
The data behind these rankings was derived from the Office for National Statistics’ rent index. By calculating the average monthly rents for the first seven months of the year and dividing by the total number of months, the report provides reliable insights into regional rental trends.
