Suitable housing solutions for older citizens present not only personal benefits but also economic and health advantages. Research by WPI Economics highlights that providing well-designed accommodation can significantly reduce health hazards, such as slips and falls, which in turn reduces strain on health services. A 44-home development by McCarthy Stone could save the NHS approximately £199,628 annually.

Broomfield also noted the broader fiscal savings, stating: “By 2032, there will be five million people over eighty in the UK. If one in eight of these residents lived in purpose-designed housing, NHS and social care systems could collectively save £2.1 billion every year.”
