Violent Confrontation in Co-op Food Store Parking Lot Results in Arrest

A man in his 20s required hospital treatment following a violent incident outside the Co-op Food store in Fane Drive, Berinsfield. The disturbance, which occurred at approximately 7:30 PM on Friday, April 12, led to minor injuries. Fortunately, the injuries were treated at a local hospital, and the man has since been discharged.

According to police reports, the altercation began inside a blue Honda Civic, where three men were involved in a heated argument. The situation escalated as two of the men exited the vehicle, bringing their dispute into public view on the street.

Knives were reportedly brandished amid the quarrel, further heightening the tension of the confrontation. Subsequently, one of the men entered the Co-op store, while the other two individuals returned to the car and departed the scene quickly.

Suspect Arrested and Investigation Ongoing

Authorities acted swiftly, arresting a 22-year-old man from Wantage in connection with the violent disturbance. He was detained on suspicion of affray and remains in custody as investigations continue.

Detective Constable David Hughes reassured the public, stating, “At this stage of the investigation, it seems to be an isolated incident. Officials are working tirelessly to identify and locate those involved.”

While one suspect has been apprehended, Thames Valley Police are appealing for further assistance from witnesses or anyone with evidence relevant to the incident.

Thames Valley Police are requesting residents and drivers in the area review any dash-cam or CCTV footage captured during the time of the incident. Detective Constable Hughes encouraged the community, saying, “Please check the footage and contact us if it shows anything that may assist our inquiries.”
