Wantage Town Council is the council for the civil parish of Wantage, the historic market town in the Vale of White Horse, Oxfordshire, with its offices on Portway. The town is the birthplace of King Alfred the Great, born here in 849 AD, and appears in the Domesday Book of 1086.
Markets have been held in Wantage since 1246 and still take place every Wednesday and Saturday.
