Walking and Cycling
Wantage is a perfect centre from which to explore the beautiful countryside of the Berkshire Downs – particularly The Ridgeway.
You can stay overnight in Wantage or one of the villages, or at The Court Hill Centre, located on the Ridgeway itself.
As well as the great outdoors, there are historic walks around the town – pop into The Vale and Downland Museum to ask.
There are so many experiences and adventures to enjoy in Southern Oxfordshire that the only problem visitors have is knowing where to start! That’s why Oxtrails is your best guide to the crème de la crème of days out and is bursting with great ideas for places to visit, things to eat and experiences to enjoy. All themed around food, history, literature, film and the great outdoors.
Here are a couple of Discovery Trails which you can download. You can also pick up copies at the Vale and Downland Museum.
The best place to find out about cycling around Wantage is the brilliant CTC Wantage website www.ctcwantage.org.uk. The CTC is a national organisation and our branch covers Wantage, surrounding towns and villages.
