African Children’s Fund is an Oxfordshire-based charity helping children go to school so we can give them hope for a bright future.
Our projects are run by local staff from partner NGOs in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe, who are committed to – and know the needs of – their own communities.
The projects we support include Porridge Clubs and the provision of sanitary towels to Kenyan primary school children, increasing school attendance & academic attainment; a nursery school and vocational training scheme for teenage girls in Tanzania; the provision of educational resources and counselling for children infected or affected by HIV/AIDS in Zimbabwe; and slum dweller education forums in Uganda to promote children’s rights.
Our charity shop in Grove is one of four that we operate, together with shops in Faringdon, Lechlade and Witney. We sell clothing, accessories, linen, toys, books, DVDs, CDs, household bric-a-brac and small electrical items. We always need good quality donations to sell, so please think of us if you are having a spring clean! Opportunities to volunteer are also available so if you feel you could spare an hour or two each week, please pop in to see Brian who will be happy to have a chat about the different opportunities that are available.
